AURIN provides urban researchers across Australia with an infrastructure to facilitate web-based access to a wealth of information on urban environments across Australia. AURIN provides the links to data, mechanisms, protocols and tools by which urban information can be accessed, interrogated, modelled and simulated.
Participants in the AURIN workshop will explore the extensive data repositories and extract information about Australian cities. Using the sophisticated tools contained within the AURIN portal, participants can mould this information into visualisable and sharable knowledge. Until now, much of this information has remained behind closed doors. AURIN enables access to this data for built environment professionals across all fields, letting users discover and mash-up data, information and knowledge. Participants can undertake comparative analyses visualising election results, studying health data, visualising walkability of neighbourhoods and more. Knowledge of these issues is essential to understanding patterns of urban development, to form and model urban growth for a sustainable future.
AURIN is an Australian Government project conducted as part of the Super Science initiative and financed by the Education Investment Fund
